Job Description:

As a Technical Author, you will lead our documentation efforts, developing high-quality content that meets the needs of our users. You will work closely with engineering teams to create and maintain software documentation, influencing product development and ensuring that our documentation meets user needs. Your expertise in documentation will help standardize structure, presentation, style, and language across products.

Our ideal candidate has a record of producing excellent documentation, is sympathetic to open-source software challenges, and demonstrates technical curiosity. They are also skilled in software development contexts, including Linux, Git, and documentation markup languages. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, maintain, and improve software documentation.
  • Work with engineering team members to help them make effective documentation contributions.
  • Influence product development as an expert user of the product.
  • Engage with user communities to ensure that our documentation meets their needs.
Requirements:
  • Cares deeply about functional written communication.
  • Has a record of community engagement in open-source software, documentation, research, or other disciplines.
  • Is sympathetic to open-source software and its communities.
  • Demonstrates technical curiosity and fascination with software technology.
  • Has demonstrable documentation skills, insight, and enthusiasm.
  • Has experience of software development contexts; is familiar with Linux, working on the command line, application deployment, system operations, and infrastructure management, Git, documentation markup languages.
