Job Description">

We are seeking a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our HSE department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the environment.

About the Role:

  • Develop and implement effective HSE strategies to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near-miss events to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training programs related to HSE.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance HSE performance and reduce risk.
  2. Manage and facilitate the investigation process for serious incidents, developing strategies to effectively resolve workplace hazards and implement measures to proactively reduce injuries through the HSE team.
  3. Manage and drive effective incident investigation processes.
  4. Oversee project corrective action requirements associated with internal and external audits, incidents, inspections, and other proactive or reactive processes.
  5. Manage the effective communication, implementation, and operation of new or updated systems, policies, standards, procedures, etc., at domestic projects.
  6. Ensure site-specific procedures are appropriate and do not introduce unplanned risks, and ensure RUC document control and document management requirements are met for all site-specific procedures or other HSE-related documentation.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of HSE management experience in the resource sector (Underground Mining);
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS (e.g., Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent);
  • ICAM Lead Auditor training;
  • Underground Mining Experience;
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards, legislation, and risk management principles;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to build rapport with both corporate and site personnel.
