Key Role: Application Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert application support across a mix of established COTS and bespoke applications in a secure environment.

As an Application Support Specialist, your primary goal will be to deliver high-quality, reliable support services to internal teams, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve complex technical issues, deploy vendor-supplied updates and packages, and manage incidents and problems using IT service management processes and tools.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills. Basic Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills are required to support bespoke applications, and automation using PowerShell and Bash will be a key focus for this team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide application support for COTS and bespoke applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Deploy vendor-supplied updates and packages
  • Receive, review, triage, and resolve incidents and problems using IT service management processes and tools
  • Collaborate and manage internal teams as required
  • Liaise with external vendors and clients for application-specific incident and problem resolution
  • Establish and maintain clear documentation

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with Object Oriented Programming
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and desire to learn
  • Understanding of application servers, particularly WebLogic and IIS
  • Experience with Microsoft technology stack (Windows Server 2016 and later)
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix and command-line tools
  • Familiarity with VM/Cloud tools
