Senior Specialist Social Work Role

This senior specialist social work role delivers Medicare mental health services in Western Australia.


About the Position

You will work independently, demonstrating advanced knowledge and experience, contributing to teaching, training and research, supervising students and mentoring junior caregivers.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based senior social work services to consumers and carers within the clinical specialty area(s).
  • Deliver social work assessment, intervention and evaluation at an advanced practice level for complex and general caseloads.
  • Ensure prioritisation and delegation of duties for own caseload and supervised caregivers.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the social work service and clinical specialty, to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective multidisciplinary teamwork through professional communication and liaison with colleagues, consumers and service providers.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and clinical information systems.
  • Demonstrate reflective practice and commitment to professional development.
  • Support the social work service by communicating issues and ideas for enhancing the service.

Successful applicants will have senior clinical experience and leadership in a specialised area of practice, ability to undertake professional supervision and/or mentor junior staff and develop innovative clinical practices and quality improvement activities.


The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in social work and be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
