About the Role

As a Knowledge Lawyer, you will be part of our national Legal Excellence & Risk section in Melbourne. You will report to the Senior Knowledge Lawyer - Insurance and work closely with our Client Solutions, Information Technology, Business Development and Learning & Development teams.

Your key responsibilities will include providing professional support to all lawyers and partners within the national Insurance section and the broader firm. This will involve:

  • Knowledge Management: Providing expert support in the area of knowledge management primarily to the firm's national Insurance practice.
  • Precedent Development: Assisting with the drafting of precedents and promoting the development and use of precedents.
  • Project Work: Engaging in project work, including developing technical improvements and progressing automation, and Hall & Wilcox Smarter Law solutions.
  • Training and Support: Preparing and assisting with the delivery of training, and the preparation of agendas and minutes.
  • Knowledge Repositories: Maintaining knowledge repositories.
  • Compliance: Proofreading and ensuring compliance with the firm's style guide.
  • Tertiary Support: Working with the Knowledge team to support other sections as required.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Knowledge Lawyer who has:

  • A minimum of 2 years post-admission experience.
  • Experience in insurance law, preferably from a defendant law firm.
  • Excellent document drafting and contract review skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and follow up tasks autonomously.
  • A keen interest in knowledge sharing, project management, precedent development, and style compliance.
  • Prior experience with or an interest in intranet and knowledge database content, document automation, and PowerPoint is desirable.
