Job Description

Role Summary

The Special Education Assistant Principal will provide leadership and support to students with hearing impairment in a itinerant role, working across multiple schools in the Yass and Goulburn Network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Itinerant Support Teachers Hearing, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality teaching and learning programs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with hearing impairment, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide professional learning and development opportunities for teachers and support staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with hearing impairment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, schools, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide policies and procedures related to student support and well-being.

Requirements

  • Approval to teach Hearing Impairment (Itinerant) and expertise in Auslan and assistive communication systems.
  • Proven experience in educational leadership, team management, and professional learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the complex learning needs of students with hearing impairment and ability to deliver specific professional learning to support staff.
