Diesel Mechanic and Air Conditioning Technician Job

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic and Air Conditioning Technician to join our workshop team.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on diesel, electrical, and air-conditioning systems in vehicles. Conduct inspections, diagnose faults, and repair or replace defective parts using specialized tools and equipment.
    • Disassemble, repair, and replace critical components such as engines, transmissions, and steering mechanisms. Perform system diagnostics and repair or replace defective parts.
    • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including lighting, alternators, and starter motors. Calibrate and repair electronic components such as sensors, ECUs, and dashboard displays.
    • Perform repairs and replacements of air-conditioning components, including compressors and evaporators. Conduct gas recharging services and ensure optimal performance of air-conditioning systems through inspection and cleaning.
    • Liaise with suppliers to procure parts and services. Accurately record maintenance and repair work for tracking and vehicle service history. Communicate effectively with the Operations team to coordinate vehicle availability and inform of out-of-service vehicles.
  • Apprentice Mentorship
    • Provide guidance and support to apprentices, helping them develop their technical skills in diesel, electrical, and air-conditioning systems. Demonstrate and reinforce safe work practices, ensuring apprentices comply with workplace health and safety policies.

The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical or equivalent, and have a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in diesel fitting, auto-electrical, or vehicle air-conditioning systems. They will also possess strong mentoring and interpersonal skills, intermediate data entry skills, and computer literacy.
