Job Summary: Island Health is seeking a part-time Psychiatrist to join our Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT). The successful candidate will work with DDMHT, providing assessment and consultation to patients with a range of intellectual disability, including autism, FASD, Down Syndrome, and mental health and substance use needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric services to patients with intellectual disability and mental health needs.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of Nurses, Psychologists, OT, and Psychiatrists to provide a specialized community-based consultation service.
- Develop and lead modified CBT &/or DBT groups for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs.
- Participate in clinical team meetings and provide reports to the Department of Psychiatry meetings.
- Contribute to the teaching of medical students and residents as part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program.
- Participate in research opportunities facilitated by Island Health.
Requirements:
- Eligible for full licensure to practice psychiatry in British Columbia (CPSBC).
- FRCPC – eligible, mandatory.
- Experience and training in comprehensive psychiatry services, and skills and experience in a collaborative care model.
- Capacity and interest to build relationships with other services/staff.
