Job Overview

  • This is a key role within our Australia Sector Supply Chain team, responsible for managing allocated Indirect spend categories and contributing to key programs related to this strategically important and growing sector.

About the Role

  • The Category Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing Category Management strategies across areas such as IT, Facilities, Legal, Finance, Fleet and other allocated categories.
  • Assist stakeholders in supply chain and procurement activities including cost optimisation, purchasing, forecasting and risk management.
  • Contribute knowledge of supplier markets to help improve competitive advantage and service outcomes.
  • Support the delivery of the Australia Sector supply chain roadmap to ensure alignment with Group processes, systems and policy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify, qualify and manage suppliers for tactical and strategic purchasing.
  • Maintain awareness of compliance requirements for suppliers in a Defence environment.
  • Implement a supply chain that supports business strategies, adapts to market changes and cost optimisation needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, colleagues, suppliers and external partners to support best practice and consistency in sourcing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solid experience in Procurement, Category Management or Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to business or project procurement activities.
  • Experience with procurement and supply chain models within ERP systems.
  • Exposure to integration and transformation programs desirable.
  • Experience in a regulated environment ideally Defence or ISO regulated.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain management, procurement and supplier engagement practices.
  • Ability to support process and system improvements in solution design and commercial outcomes.
  • Familiarity with import/export of regulated products advantageous.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to address challenges that impact projects and functional delivery.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • A results orientated, organised and delivery focused approach.
