Job Title: Release Manager

About the Role:

The Westpac Group is seeking a highly skilled Release Manager to join our team. As a Release Manager, you will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software development and delivery process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the DevOps team to deliver services and support both IT Operations and Delivery squads.
  • Manage the Release Management lifecycle, including scheduling releases, coordinating between multiple squads, and deployment of releases as per the schedule.
  • Ensure releases undergo required quality controls, working closely with application development teams, testing teams, and production teams.
  • Identify and manage risks that can delay releases, ensuring the scope, schedule, and quality of releases are not affected.
  • Schedule release readiness reviews and milestone reviews after each release.
  • Plan and provide weekly updates on release activities.
  • Lead Go-Live activities to deploy software successfully.
  • Manage risk reporting at the portfolio level and track issues/blockers/incidents in production at regular frequencies.
  • Own access to applications for the Engineering team.
  • Coordinate with L2/L3 teams and build/publish dashboards for tracking customer transactions and managing issues.
  • Improve methodologies used for configuration management and development of software.
  • Own the patch management process to ensure application vulnerabilities are addressed.
  • Support the Technical Service Owner in managing risk and controls for applications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 10+ years' experience in projects and/or delivery of technology solutions in a service delivery, project management, or release management role.
  • Champion in driving continuous improvement and uplift in tools and processes.
  • Experience across Agile and adaptive delivery models and mindsets.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines & tooling.
  • Working knowledge of managing code repositories such as Github.
  • Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Expertise in computer programming.
  • Team management skills.
  • Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban.
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system.
  • Expertise with the use of tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience crafting and measuring success with OKRs, KPIs, etc.
  • Previous Banking domain experience is a plus.
  • Experience of using Fortify/Tenable is desirable.
