About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the library leadership team at Darebin City Council as a Team Leader Library Collections. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the Collections Team to develop, deliver, and maintain high-quality digital and print collections.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collection Development and Management: Lead the review, development, and implementation of an innovative and streamlined shelf-ready approach for the management, ordering, and cataloging of print and digital library collections.
  • Branch Leadership: Perform and lead branch leadership activities to ensure library-wide delivery of inclusive, accessible, and responsive customer service, efficient and safe operations, well-presented and safely maintained facilities, and teamwork and communication.
  • Team Management: Manage the performance of direct reports, provide performance feedback, coaching, and support, and implement strategies to enable professional development.
  • Customer Service: Undertake rostered front-of-house customer service shifts across Darebin Libraries' branches, including working one evening shift per week and a minimum of one rostered Saturday and Sunday shift in each 8-week cycle.

Requirements
  • Qualifications: A recognised degree or graduate diploma qualification in Library and Information Management, with relevant experience in a public library environment.
  • Skills and Experience: Role-model behaviour in teamwork, collaborative practice with a customer-centric values-driven approach to service, leading and motivating teams during times of change. Experience in strategic collection management, budgetary management, contract management, and vendor liaison.
