Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Education Policy and Research Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Curriculum, Assessment, and Strategic Policy Directorate, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and coordinating operational and high-level policies, guidelines, and procedures in relation to strategic issues and the operation of the Authority's research and ethics functions.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading, planning, and undertaking high-level research and critical analysis to identify emerging trends and issues at a local, national, and international level
- Providing reports to Division Executive and Senior Management on research findings and recommendations
- Reviewing submitted applications for ethical approval and providing guidance to potential and actual applicants
- Coordinating and preparing correspondence, speeches, reports, submissions, approvals, conditional approvals, and policy briefings on research protocols and education-related matters

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will be required to address the following selection criteria in their application:
- Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate current State and National education issues, policies, and systems
- Demonstrated highly developed research, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and clarify patterns and trends, process improvements, and provide innovative thinking in problem solving
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills, including experience in the preparation of Ministerial responses, briefings, policy, and complex reports
- Demonstrated highly developed oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to undertake high-level consultations and negotiations
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements and policy governing human research, including human research ethic processes
- Demonstrated substantial skills and experience in providing executive and administrative support to a committee or board
Eligibility
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
- Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
