About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Assessment Planner to join our team at Penrith City Council. As a key member of our assessment team, you will play a vital role in evaluating and determining development proposals and subdivision certificates.

The Role

In this challenging and rewarding position, you will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating complex development applications and providing expert advice to customers;
  • Leading pre-lodgement meetings and working closely with applicants and stakeholders to resolve planning issues;
  • Mentoring and guiding junior staff to ensure they develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles;
  • Providing high-quality evidence in support of council's decision-making processes.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in Planning or a related field;
  • Demonstrated senior experience in the assessment and determination of development applications, as well as strong leadership and mentoring skills;
  • A current Class C Driver's Licence;
  • Prior experience working in a NSW Local Government environment is highly desirable, as is the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • An estimated salary range of $103,939 - $120,314 per annum, commensurate with your experience and qualifications;
