The Foaling Unit Manager is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the foaling unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the foaling unit, ensuring the safe and successful delivery of newborn foals.
  • Monitor mares for signs of impending foaling, assist with deliveries, and provide comprehensive pre- and post-natal care.
  • Administer medications to all stock under veterinary supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of all foaling activity, including mare history and breeding information.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and organisation of foaling stables and related equipment.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other specialist personnel to manage the health needs of mares and foals.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring they adhere to best practices and safety standards.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of experience managing a foaling unit or similar equine operation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations, prioritizing the health and well-being of mares and foals.
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills, with ability to multitask and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Calm and confident demeanor, particularly in emergency situations.
