Leadership Role in Health, Safety and Environment

We are seeking an experienced executive to lead and implement key initiatives in health, safety, and environment (HSE) sectors. The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of managing organisational systems, processes, procedures, and programs.
As a key member of our leadership team, you will work closely with the CEO to develop and implement the HSE strategy, aligned with our business objectives. You will partner with operational managers and clients to simplify ways of working, improve risk management, and drive performance outcomes for sustainable business values.

Key Responsibilities
- Further develop and implement HSE management strategies and best practices
- Provide operational advice and mentoring on HSE obligations and duties
- Ensure compliance with industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations
- Develop and maintain HSE systems and platforms
- Drive simplified and effective safe working procedures
- Oversee workers' compensation and return-to-work programs
- Lead and manage HSE metrics and reporting for learning and continuous improvement
- Assist with tenders, contracts, and develop positive client relationships
- Contribute to the delivery of our organisational environmental, social, and governance strategy
- Monitor and measure environmental factors to reduce emissions
- Lead and facilitate incident reporting and investigations to determine contributing factors and root cause
- Manage the drug and alcohol testing program across all business units
- Drive organisational change in a fast-growing business
- Lead and develop the HSE team to ensure best practice delivery
Salary: AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
The successful candidate will have:
- At least five years of experience in a strategic and operational HSE role, ideally gained in transport or mining
- Demonstrated strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Exposure to a blue-collar environment is essential
- A consultative and situational management style
- Negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Sophisticated communication skills to deliver effective messaging across multiple levels within the organisation
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong knowledge of OHS/WHS and the interpretation of legislation into practice
- Ability to flex between strategic and operational activities
- Ability to promote safer outcomes through company culture and application of best practices
- Ability to travel within Australia
- Demonstrated experience using MS Office suite and HSE systems
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills
