About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position based at Risdon Prison, with flexible working options available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level advice, coaching, and guidance to managers, supervisors, and staff on human resource matters, including work health and safety, performance, and workplace behavior.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a TPS workforce strategy that aligns with the broader Department of Justice People Strategy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of the TPS and build the capability and capacity of supervisors and managers to facilitate local management of human resource matters.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality recruitment, rostering, and leave management, and training and development services for the TPS.
  • Represent the TPS at relevant tribunals and commissions where required and in negotiations with industrial and other advocates on employee management issues.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in human resource management, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
