Job Summary:

As a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed.
  • Support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports.
  • Assist with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines.
  • Prepare cost data for proposals or contracts.
  • Coordinate the development and accuracy of cost reports.
  • Verify consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.

Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related field with solid project controls or cost related work experience. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, extensive/demonstrated project controls or cost control experience. 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferential will be in field experience across either EPCM and/or EPC execution models on major, complex projects.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Proficient planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.
  • Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications.
  • Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (EcoSys and Microsoft Office Applications, for example).
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Ability to interact effectively with colleagues in many different disciplines.
