
Senior Automation Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned automation professional to spearhead the development and implementation of cutting-edge automated solutions for our manufacturing processes.
This role will entail hands-on involvement in designing, building, and activating hardware and software systems for machines that comprise the production line. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and refine equipment concepts, balancing product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time constraints.
- Designing new industrial electrical control panels compliant with industry standards, creating electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics.
- Architecting, writing, and debugging PLC code, focusing on generating organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable code for manufacturing applications.
- Developing robot systems to augment the automated manufacturing of various vehicle sub-components.
- Implementing control systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Creating intuitive HMI screens for complex machinery, providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting purposes.
- Managing electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic, and fluid plumbing.
- Selecting and sizing electrical and electromechanical components like servo motors and controllers.
- Deploying automated processes and equipment into production.
- Establishing and managing schedules and budgets to ensure project completion.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- 5+ years experience in designing and commissioning automation and controls systems for industrial applications.
Prior experience with robotic weld applications, robot and PLC simulation, National Instruments software and hardware, Electrical schematic CAD using EPlan, programming languages like C#, .NET, Python, and SQL, as well as experience working with Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCat 3 would be beneficial.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments, and the ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision.
