Job Description

Downer Professional Services is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Engineer to deliver strategically significant capability to the Space Branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex cyber and information security work within an integrated workforce.

The role requires strong technical skills, including experience with security policy interpretation and standards development, familiarity with Defence governance, compliance requirements, and Australian Government security regulations and guidelines. The ideal candidate will also possess comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex security risk assessments and provide advice on procedural security controls.
  • Understand security features and capabilities of current Defence and industry-accepted hardware and software products and provide advice.
  • Provide specialist advice to explain systems security and its strengths and weaknesses.
  • Interpret security policy and contribute to the development of standards that comply with Defence policy and procedures.
  • Review information system designs for weaknesses and potential breaches in security.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are essential for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related engineering field.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity engineering and risk assessment.
  • Experience with security policy interpretation and standards development, and familiarity with Defence governance, compliance requirements, and Australian Government security regulations and guidelines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, and knowledge of hardware and software security features and capabilities.
