Job Opportunity

This is a 2-year, grant-funded position that focuses on developing and implementing research strategies in music and health to meet community needs.

  • Lead initiatives to connect new communities with the Conservatorium through programs, short courses, and professional development opportunities.
  • Build partnerships with First Nations communities, health professionals, educators, and regional partners to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Document and share the impact of music and arts in creating healthier, more connected communities through effective communication and dissemination strategies.

This role is based at our Newcastle City Campus on Awabakal land and aims to enhance the visibility and reach of music and arts research, creating new opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

About You

You are an established or emerging leader in music (or the performing arts more broadly) who can move fluidly between research, practice, and community engagement.

You bring:

  • A doctoral qualification in music (or a related field) and a strong track record in community-engaged, applied, or socially impactful music scholarship.
  • Skills in creating engaging, responsive learning experiences that cater to diverse audiences and needs.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practice that values diversity and promotes social inclusion.
  • The ability to set engagement priorities, foster collaborations, and generate measurable impact through effective project management and leadership.
