Air Quality Data Analyst

RAC of WA is seeking an experienced Air Quality Specialist to join their Social & Community Impact team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing credible and technically sound analysis using data derived from the award-winning RAC Air Health Monitor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the accurate collection, storage and retrieval of air quality data, and establishing data validation procedures across several platforms including dashboards.
  • Leading the analysis and synthesis of air quality data to identify trends, patterns and areas of concern.
  • Providing accurate, detailed and evidence-based outputs including an annual report.
  • Keeping a currency of knowledge about changes in environmental standards and guidelines ensuring the air quality monitoring network complies.
  • In concert with the Technical Lead, leading and coordinating the investigation of air quality events and threshold exceedances.
  • Supporting operations personnel in their work to ensure sensor health and network continuity.
  • Providing expert technical advice and professional judgement to support content production and media.
  • Strengthening RAC's credibility in this field while informing RAC members, the community, industry, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Researching and preparing reports, papers and communication materials such as presentations and briefing notes.
  • Liaising and developing relationships with stakeholders in government and industry and representing RAC in external forums.
  • Managing consultants and contractors, as required.
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and developments.
  • Responding to queries from members and external organisations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in a related discipline are mandatory (e.g. Environmental Science, Engineering, Atmospheric Science).
  • Professional and practical career experience leading in-depth air quality data analysis and preparing reports.
  • Strong knowledge of air quality regulations and standards.
  • Experience with air quality monitoring equipment and data management systems.
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with attention to content, grammar and use of appropriate language to ensure materials are suitable for the intended audience.
  • Excellent technical, conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting software and tools. For example: MS Excel, PowerBI.
  • Sound professional judgment and a desire to show technical leadership.
  • Ability to apply a proactive approach to duties.
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise and manage projects within specified budgets and timeframes.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a Values based organisation and role model Behaviours.
