Facilities Operations Manager

CQUniversity seeks a proactive and skilled professional to oversee daily maintenance operations, supervise a small team, and deliver minor facilities projects at one of our campuses. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives outdoors, enjoys working across a broad range of physical tasks, and has the leadership skills to support others in doing the same.

This position involves overseeing maintenance schedules, supervising contractors, managing budgets and supporting campus events and minor works. The successful candidate will set priorities, delegate tasks and lead by example to foster a positive and productive team culture with a strong focus on communication and collaboration.

The Facilities Operations Manager will lead a physically active role involving grounds work, minor building maintenance and outdoor tasks in all weather conditions. Adaptability, proactivity and the ability to manage competing demands while focusing on safety, service and results are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of maintenance schedules and supervision of contractors.
  • Management of budgets and support for campus events and minor works.
  • Leadership by example to foster a positive team culture with a strong focus on communication and collaboration.
Position Requirements
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience including prioritisation, delegation and coordination of daily maintenance activities.
  • Strong trade skills and physical capability to perform hands-on operational tasks such as maintenance, repairs and grounds work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety management strategies and relevant legislative requirements with a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and deliver a high standard of customer service.
  • Current Open Driver's Licence.
