Design Engineer Role:

We are seeking a qualified Design Engineer to carry out investigations and prepare detailed civil design plans. This position will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of community infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop computer-generated design plans for capital works projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards
  • Prepare engineering computations, cost estimates, and contract specifications, utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Manage external consultants and coordinate geotechnical investigations and surveys, promoting public safety and engagement with stakeholders
  • Respond to community enquiries and investigate infrastructure issues such as stormwater and drainage, applying engineering principles in a local government context
  • Support the development of engineering policies and procedures, leveraging strong time management and stakeholder engagement skills

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience, demonstrating proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven experience in civil design, particularly roads and drainage, with a strong understanding of engineering principles in a local government context
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and external consultants
