
Child Psychologist Opportunity

Our department is seeking a highly skilled psychologist to join our family violence counselling and support services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting children and young people in recovering from the effects of family violence trauma through the delivery of specialist psychological services and therapeutic support.
The role involves undertaking appropriate forms of interventions within family violence, trauma and attachment frameworks in line with evidence-based practice and contemporary therapeutic models. This includes delivering developmentally appropriate specialist psychological services and therapeutic support to clients, as well as undertaking psychological assessments of children, young people and their families using standardised assessment methods.
Additionally, the successful candidate will provide therapeutic interventions, case management services and referrals to appropriate agencies, as required. They will also contribute to and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, including group programs and sessions for clients of our department's programmes.
Key requirements for the role include a tertiary qualification or program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia, registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, working with children registration and a current driver's licence. Desirable criteria include being a registered psychologist with eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society, relevant tertiary qualifications and clinical experience in the human services sector.
The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: conviction checks in the areas of crimes of violence, sex-related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, serious traffic offences and identification check; disciplinary action in previous employment check.
Benefits- A competitive salary range of $110,425 - $121,907 per annum.
