Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to manage project costs and support delivery.

This role requires a capable cost control professional with experience in infrastructure or project environments.

  • Maintain accurate records of supplier, contractor, and material costs using industry-standard tools.
  • Track and reconcile financial transactions, including timesheets, invoices, journals, and project costs.
  • Prepare and analyse project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to inform business decisions.
  • Support progress claims and cost recovery from external agencies, ensuring timely and transparent processes.
  • Provide valuable insights and reporting for regular project meetings.
  • Assist with business case development and documentation, leveraging financial expertise.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt invoicing and cost transparency.
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor cost performance and identify potential risks.
About the Role

This is a full-time, fixed-term position that requires a proactive approach to managing costs and supporting project delivery.

Key Requirements
  • Solid experience in project cost control, ideally 3–5 years, with demonstrated ability to operate independently and effectively in a cost management function.
  • Experience in cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to manage complex financial data, including timesheets, journals, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP tools, such as JD Edwards.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as Primavera or MS Project.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Experience in rail or infrastructure projects, with understanding of rail alliance projects and infrastructure delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to cost recovery and progress claims processes, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience in rail or infrastructure projects and/or working with agencies like RPV or MTIA is advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics or related discipline, with a focus on finance and accounting.
