The role of an Azure Cloud Engineer is pivotal in designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and well-governed cloud infrastructure environments.
This position requires a strong understanding of cloud computing principles, experience with Azure services, and proficiency in automation tools such as Azure Automation, Azure Open AI, and Logic Apps.
The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of enterprise governance models, including policy design, naming conventions, tagging strategies, cost management, and compliance monitoring.
Additionally, they will collaborate with architecture, DevOps, and security teams to ensure alignment with Microsoft's Well-Architected Framework and enterprise standards.
The Azure Cloud Engineer will also be responsible for supporting and enhancing business-as-usual (BAU) Azure infrastructure operations, including monitoring, patching, and environment lifecycle management.
They will work closely with junior engineers, lead technical workshops, and participate in architecture review sessions to drive operational efficiency and knowledge sharing across teams.
Azure Cloud Engineers are required to have solid hands-on experience with Azure Policy, management groups, and enterprise governance models. They should also have a strong understanding of core Azure services – compute, networking, identity, storage, monitoring, and security.
Familiarity with or exposure to AI-driven automation in Azure, along with CI/CD tooling for infrastructure deployments, is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing Azure governance frameworks
- Defining and enforcing Azure Policy and management group hierarchies
- Building AI-driven and automated self-service provisioning solutions
- Developing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code using PowerShell, Bicep, and Terraform
- Building and managing CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment
- Collaborating with architecture, DevOps, and security teams to ensure alignment with Microsoft's Well-Architected Framework and enterprise standards
- Supporting and enhancing BAU Azure infrastructure operations
