Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role in the finance team of Viva Energy Australia, a leading energy company. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the month-end close process, maintaining key financial statement areas, and driving financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain and oversee key financial statement areas, including Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E), Inventories, and Other Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Process journals and approve month-end journals and accruals for other finance members.
  • Review other finance team members' working papers and reconciliations.
  • Oversee expense and revenue allocations, including reviewing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and General Ledger (GL) coding for supplier invoices.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and ongoing variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of auditors' files and liaise with auditors as required.
  • Prepare monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other returns.
  • Actively participate in the Treasury process, including generating cash flow forecasts and drawing down on equipment lease facilities when required.

Requirements:

  • Partway through the Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) program or fully qualified with experience in a similar industry or professional services role for a minimum of 4 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to be part of a high-performance and fast-paced team with team management experience.
  • Proven track record of being self-motivated, delivering high-quality financial accounting work, and displaying a strong willingness for career growth.
  • Flexibility in approach and ability to adapt to suit different needs or situations with the utmost attention to detail.
