Senior Trade Measurement Officer, National Measurement Institute

About the Role

The Senior Trade Measurement Officer is a critical leadership position responsible for driving quality outcomes in trade measurement services. The role demands complex work under limited direction, with reasonable autonomy and accountability.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor trade measurement staff to ensure high-performance teams.
  • Establish local inspection priorities to meet compliance targets, ensuring seamless delivery of trade measurement services.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and report on compliance programs by coordinating and conducting inspections, providing expert technical advice to stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and provide technical guidance to various stakeholders, facilitating effective collaboration and issue resolution.
  • Investigate breaches of trade measurement legislation, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide education and training to stakeholders on trade measurement regulations, fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of proactive compliance strategies, leveraging expertise to drive business growth.
  • Supervise professional development and mentoring of staff, promoting career advancement and skill enhancement.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent) to demonstrate expertise in investigative techniques.
  • Certificate IV in Trade Measurement (or greater) to showcase advanced knowledge in trade measurement principles.
  • A qualification demonstrating knowledge or experience to be appointed as a Trade Measurement Inspector, highlighting specialized skills.
  • Australian citizenship to ensure alignment with national regulations.
  • Baseline security clearance to guarantee access to sensitive information.
  • Ability to undertake inter-state travel and occasional out-of-hours work to support business operations.
