We are seeking a Nuclear Safety Manager to join our team. This is a challenging role that requires strong leadership and technical skills.
About the OpportunityThe Nuclear Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring comprehensive management arrangement processes and procedures are in place to support nuclear safety, satisfying Australian regulatory conditions. This role will lead a small cohort of multi-discipline engineers to create compliant documentation within NCD or coordinate the development of requisite documentation by internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or external specialists and sub-contractors.
The Nuclear Safety Manager will primarily support us in becoming a regulatory compliant entity through the enactment of safety case and policy demands. This includes providing ongoing expertise and advice to NCD, programs, and the wider nuclear community to ensure all regulatory conditions and associated management arrangements are understood, covered under procedure, and compliant.
The Nuclear Safety Manager will engage with all appropriate governance and quality forums to assure compliance through the ongoing maintenance of our processes and nuclear arrangements. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including Operations, Quality, RADCON, and Nuclear Governance and Assurance, supports our evolution into an intelligent user and customer.
This role evaluates the impact of ongoing regulation and the needs of the program on authorisation, social licence, and the health and safety of our workforce and the general public. Responsibilities include creating compliant and comprehensive processes and management arrangements, developing and disseminating processes, establishing communication arrangements, collaborating with internal departments, building relationships with SMEs, and establishing processes and policies.
Requirements- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Safety, Nuclear, or similar
- 7+ years' experience within the naval or civil nuclear environment or equivalent experience in a complex, highly regulated asset management/development environment
- Specific experience within nuclear regulation, code of practice, and guidance interpretation; understanding of NSRP systems and associated support needs; experience working with Nuclear regulation and licencing; managing inter-organisational stakeholders and external regulatory organisations
- Proficiency in managing regulatory documentation and maintaining compliance records
Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.
Eligibility requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role depends on obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
