About the Role

The YMCA Brisbane is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to fill the position of Educational Leader at our Wavell Heights Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service.

As the Educational Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of our education program, ensuring that it aligns with the YMCA's philosophy and the approved learning framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the education program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator.
  • Ensure children's learning and development informs the design of the educational program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, staff, and all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices.
  • Mentor and support educators understanding of the educational program and practice, including how to reflect on the effectiveness of their programs, interactions, intentional teaching, and other strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with policy.
  • Undertake administrative requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.

Requirements

  • Hold a Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education.
  • Have had sound experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.
  • Possess a comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of child development, attachment, learning.
  • A demonstrated understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Working knowledge of leadership theory and the use of a range of leadership styles.
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze and challenge conventional practice and ideas.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, Blue Card.

About Our Service

The Wavell Heights Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service is located in the Wavell Height State School, surrounded by beautiful greenery and parks.

The service has exclusive areas for indoor and outdoor activities for the students as well as easy access to the oval for expansive physical programs.
