Aboriginal Child Welfare Specialist

This position involves working with Aboriginal children and families to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal children in care. The Case Manager will strive for better outcomes for children and build capacity in families.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement plans for children and young people, including risk assessments.
- Prepare accurate documents and reports that meet audience needs.
- Collaborate with other service providers and stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- A recognised Social Work degree or a similar welfare/behavioral degree, or a Diploma of Community Services with focus on human behavior, family dynamics and/or trauma.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with Aboriginal children and families, with culturally appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma, using culturally safe therapeutic approaches to heal and build resilience.
- Understanding of child development, attachment, and trauma as they relate to Aboriginal children.
- 5 weeks annual leave
