Overview

Case Manager - Nugel role at VACCA - Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency. Location: Werribee, VIC. Employment type: Permanent - Full time. Salary: Between $88,892 to $95,947, based on qualification and experience, plus super and salary packaging options.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Aboriginal children and families, Government and sector partners to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal children in care and in contact with the Child Protection system.
  • Strive for better outcomes for children and to build capacity in families so that children can be transitioned home.
  • Complete assessments, including risk assessments, and develop, implement and review plans for children and young people.
  • Prepare accurate documents and reports (case notes, incident reports, court reports) that meet audience needs.
  • Collaborate with other service providers and stakeholders such as police and courts to achieve outcomes.
  • Work in a complex, fast-paced team and demonstrate resilience, with commitment to self-care and team support.
About You / Qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to VACCA's vision and purpose.
  • Appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures with ongoing knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal communities.
  • MANDATORY: A recognised Social Work degree or a similar welfare/behavioral degree, or a Diploma of Community Services with focus on human behavior, family dynamics and/or trauma.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with Aboriginal children and families, with culturally appropriate interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma, using culturally safe therapeutic approaches to heal and build resilience.
  • Understanding of child development, attachment, and trauma as they relate to Aboriginal children.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, policy and practice relating to Aboriginal children, families and communities.
  • Experience in completing assessments, risk assessments, and developing, implementing and reviewing plans for children and young people.
  • Experience in preparing documents and reports (case notes, incident reports, court reports).
  • Ability to collaborate with other service providers and stakeholders (e.g., police, courts).
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast-paced team and manage competing demands; commitment to self-care and team support.
  • Requirements: Valid Police Check, Working with Children Check (paid employee or willingness to obtain), Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID‑19 vaccination (strongly recommended).
