Crime Scene Investigation Professional

The Australian Federal Police is seeking a skilled and dedicated Forensic Expert to join their team. As a Crime Scene Investigator, you will play a pivotal role in detecting, collecting, recording, and interpreting evidence related to various offences.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues to provide expert forensic support to investigations across AFP Outcomes 1, 2, and 3. Your expertise will be essential in developing people, managing change, and influencing behaviours that promote a supportive culture within the organisation.
You will contribute to the development, delivery, and assessment of forensic investigation training and capacity-building activities for internal and external clients. Additionally, you will provide accurate, professional, expert forensic evidence to the courts and participate in operational briefings and debriefings as required.
Key responsibilities include maintaining sub-discipline area expertise, undertaking mentor roles for developing team members, and completing administrative and technical reviews of relevant case files. You will also be involved in contributing to the maintenance of the Quality System and undertaking tasks and projects identified by the Crime Scenes Leadership Team.
To be successful in this role, you must possess strong organisational skills, sound decision-making abilities, and effective communication and interpersonal skills. You should also have formal qualifications or contemporary experience and knowledge in a relevant science/forensic/technical discipline.
Essential requirements include Australian citizenship, Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance, initial psychological assessment, and ongoing periodic assessments. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
