About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and driven professional with expertise in Transoesophageal Echocardiography and thoracic anaesthesia.

The successful candidate will provide clinical services of the highest standard to patients, demonstrating exceptional clinical leadership and contributing to a collaborative approach to patient care. They will be actively involved in teaching and mentoring trainee medical officers, interns, and medical students, as well as participating in quality improvement activities and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical services to patients, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Demonstrate exceptional clinical leadership, guiding and supporting colleagues to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to a collaborative approach to patient care, working effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring activities, supporting the development of trainee medical officers, interns, and medical students.
  • Engage in quality improvement activities, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing evidence-based solutions.
  • Contribute to research initiatives, developing and implementing new ideas and best practices within the field of anaesthesia.
Requirements
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications for Consultant status and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence in anaesthesia, with experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and transoesophageal echocardiography.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • A passion for continuous professional development, clinical teaching, and active participation in quality improvement activities.
