Job Summary:

As a member of the parks and landscapes team, this role involves maintaining council's irrigation systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and water use effectiveness. The position plays a crucial part in supporting the city's visual appeal and contributing to a safe, functional urban environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain pressurised and central control irrigation systems
  • Undertake regular inspections, audits, and reactive repairs
  • Set up and manage flow systems and watering schedules, ensuring alignment with seasonal needs and recycled water limitations
  • Train and support team members in irrigation best practices
  • Maintain turf surfaces to a safe standard and report on turf health
  • Read and monitor water meters and soil moisture for efficient system performance
  • Engage with internal teams, contractors, and residents to ensure high service standards
Requirements:
  • Certificate III in Irrigation Technology or Horticulture
  • MR Driver's Licence
  • Experience in commercial irrigation maintenance
  • Knowledge of central irrigation software systems
  • Ability to interpret irrigation plans and troubleshoot faults
  • Good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Backhoe competency and relevant plant operation licences
  • ChemCert accreditation (transport and application)
  • White Card, First Aid, Manual Handling, and Work Zone Traffic Management
  • Mandatory Clearances: National Criminal History Check and Pre-employment Medical
