**About Our Organization**: Southern NSW Local Health District serves a large geographic area in southern New South Wales. It borders the Australian Capital Territory on three sides and extends to the Victorian border, encompassing the beautiful beaches of the NSW South Coast, the farmlands of the Southern Tablelands, across the picturesque Great Dividing Range and the stunning Snowy Mountains.

**Job Overview**: We are seeking an experienced Consumer Advocate to promote social inclusion and recovery concepts. The successful candidate will collaborate with local partner organizations to develop and deliver training programs that support consumers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

  • Advocate for consumers
  • Promote social inclusion and recovery concepts
  • Collaborate with local partner organizations
  • Assist in developing and delivering training programs

**Required Skills and Qualifications**:

  • Minimum qualification: Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (consumer) or willingness to obtain same within 12 months of appointment
  • Effective communication skills, including empathetic and supportive communication with mental health service consumers
  • Ability to work alongside mental health professionals in a non-clinical role
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Personal experience as a consumer of a mental health service (public or private)

**Additional Information**:

This is a Category 'A' position. All new employees must agree to comply with NSW Health policy directives related to occupational assessment, screening, and vaccination against specific diseases.
