Role Overview

The Night Duty Medical Officer position operates within a multidisciplinary team-based environment, involving collaboration with consultant psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care.

This role requires individuals with strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments, planning treatment, and/or discharge in accordance with the Mental Health Act, NSW. This includes working closely with other medical professionals and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care.

Other key responsibilities include participating in continuing medical education and professional development opportunities, providing handovers to relieving registrars, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a MBBS or equivalent qualification and hold Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registration. Additionally, experience working in mental health settings and familiarity with NSW Mental Health Legislation are highly desirable.
