The role of the Discipline Lead, Research Data and Information is to deliver specialist research data and information capabilities, tools, and resources under broad direction from Group Leaders in Digital Science Delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee innovation, development, and delivery of capabilities to ensure high-level integration, consistency, and usability of DSTG research data and information tools.
  • Manage the team responsible for research data and information functions and services.
  • Engage with Defence-wide initiatives and represent DSTG as required.
  • Lead sharing of DSTG innovation and discovery in research data and information management in both academic/research and professional/technical outlets.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of digital science capabilities and culture.

About Our Functions:

Our Research Data and Information (RDI) directorate supports by managing research data and information as a strategic asset, enabling it to be discoverable, reproducible, and reusable. RDI delivers guidance and services in the following areas:

  • Research data management advice and planning support.
  • Research information services (literature searches, records management coordination, document delivery).
  • Scalable training offerings (online inductions and tailored training for researchers).
  • Research collaboration and benchmarking analytics.
  • A research partnering team - our analysts.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated capabilities in persuasive written and verbal communication, collaboration, boundary spanning, and strategic thinking.
  • Post graduate qualifications in information or data management or computer science will be highly desirable.
