Family Support Service Practitioner

MacKillop Family Services Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Support Service Practitioner to join our team in Darwin, NT. As a key member of our Family Support Services team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality support to families with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective family support plans that address the unique needs of each family.
- Provide individual and group support to families, focusing on building strong relationships and promoting positive outcomes.
- Collaborate with other service providers and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response to family needs.
- Conduct thorough assessments and risk assessments to identify areas of need and develop strategies for support.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- Significant experience working with families with complex needs, particularly in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families and stakeholders.
- Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective support plans.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership.

- Bachelor's degree with specialisation in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related subject area and/or significant work experience in a relevant field which supports an understanding of key child development issues relating to parents and their families who have complex needs.
- Awareness and knowledge of attachment and trauma theories related to Aboriginal children, young people, and families; Demonstrated ability to use this knowledge to guide practice with Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, meet deadlines and key deliverables of the program.
- Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., systems, strategic and functional) family therapies.
- Risk and social skills assessment and intervention.
