Job Description

Australia Post is embarking on significant reforms, and the need for effective engagement with stakeholders has never been more critical.

The Government Engagement Manager will be responsible for building understanding of reforms with stakeholders and managing re-active engagement.

This position may require some interstate travel and can be based in either Brisbane or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring the passage of Modernisation reforms through Parliament
  • Monitoring public discussion of Modernisation from Parliamentarians to identify any emerging risks
  • Proactively and reactively engaging with parliamentary stakeholders in support of modernisation
  • Supporting the team to implement stakeholder communication and engagement plans with Parliamentarians
  • Assisting in the preparation of meeting briefs for internal representatives
  • Supporting the delivery of engagement activity to inform, influence and inspire stakeholders
  • Proactively developing and maintaining strong internal relationships to collaborate and share knowledge
  • Contributing to the protection and enhancement of Australia Post's brand and reputation
Requirements:

You're inquisitive, proactive, eager to get stuff done, and enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.

  • 2+ years in Government Relations / Corporate Affairs / Ministerial adviser / political office / industry association / think tank
  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or interest in political and regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated experience in developing clear communications materials such as briefs, memos, letters, and plans for specific audiences
  • Ability to communicate complex information simply to a wide range of audiences
  • An ability to juggle competing demands and priorities; and balance strategic and tactical priorities to deliver outcomes
  • Proven ability to mediate across multi-functional or multi-discipline teams in order to achieve agreed objectives
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to gain the cooperation and trust of colleagues
