Energy Market Expertise

The Energy Market Management group comprises metering, settlement and prudential functions for gas and electricity markets spanning the National Electricity Market (NEM), Western Electricity Market (WEM) and east coast gas.

This role sits within the Prudentials team with primary responsibilities including consulting with internal and external stakeholders and market participants to influence process design and ultimately the delivery of operational tools to enhance the efficiency of the Prudentials function.

A key aspect of this role is report writing and support to regulatory submissions and market consultation. The ability to represent/present AEMO positions at industry forums is also essential.

Furthermore, ensuring internal operational processes are aligned and executed in accordance with market rules and daily/weekly/monthly production cycles is critical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with a range of internal stakeholders and industry participants regarding prudentials and rule based queries.
  • Developing and implementing systems and processes to support industry reform projects through interpretation of market rules.

Effective communication and problem-solving skills are crucial in this role, as you will be required to draw and articulate conclusions from a range of data and rule inputs.

Additionally, experience operating in a legal, compliance and rules-based setting is highly valued.

Requirements
  • Mandatory minimum degree qualification in economics, commerce, finance or information systems.
  • Strong related work experience in the Energy industry with consideration given to relevant Commercial/Regulatory/Legal experience in related industries such as utilities.
  • Sound understanding of energy market structure, NEM, WEM, or gas markets with knowledge of settlement or prudentials processes an advantage.
