Job Summary

Mercy Community is seeking a dedicated professional to fill the role of Family Support Specialist - Early Years. This position involves working with families to ensure they receive the support and resources they need to thrive.

The ideal candidate will possess a Diploma in Early Childhood, Education, Social Work, or a related field, along with substantial relevant experience and knowledge in early childhood services. Additionally, they must have knowledge of First Nations cultures and historical and contemporary impacts, with a commitment to respectful culturally safe engagement and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with families to understand their needs and goals, and collaboratively develop intervention and support plans to address these needs.
  • To provide referrals and practical help to access health checks, immunisations, playgroups, and Kindergarten programs, as well as targeted and specialist services to address specific learning and developmental needs.
  • To collaborate with local community members, including Elders and organisations, to align services with community needs.

About You

The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting families and children, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They must be willing to provide in-home based services to families and have a valid Queensland Provisional Green (P2) or above Driver Licence.
