Disability Support Professional

Northcott's Clinical Services provides comprehensive support to individuals with disabilities, focusing on therapy, behaviour support, dietetics, sexuality and relationships, and orthotics and footwear. The Behaviour Support team delivers person-centred behaviour support to customers, services, and staff across Sydney and the wider therapy teams in NSW, ACT, VIC, and QLD.
Job DescriptionAs a Behavioural Specialist Practitioner, you will work closely with the Behaviour Support team to provide supervision and support to core and proficient behaviour support practitioners. Your key responsibilities include:
- Providing person-centred behaviour support to a complex caseload, prioritising the needs of each individual.
- Delivering training and workshops on person-centred behaviour support as required, sharing your expertise with colleagues.
- Building relationships with local communities and stakeholders, fostering partnerships that benefit our customers.
- Working within a capacity-building model, collaborating with diverse consumers, stakeholders, and customers to drive positive change.
- Participating in project work, contributing to the development of new initiatives and strategies.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Minimum 10 years' experience working with people with disabilities, including those with complex needs.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a behaviour support role, applying your knowledge and skills to make a positive impact.
- Proven ability to mentor staff, supporting them to implement effective behaviour support plans.
- Experience working with customers, staff, and families using a positive behaviour support approach.
- Demonstrated commitment to a person-centred approach, prioritising the unique needs and goals of each individual.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently, making informed decisions to drive outcomes.
- Confidence in using technology, staying up-to-date with the latest tools and systems.
- Tertiary qualification in psychology, occupational therapy, speech pathology, nursing, social or health sciences, or completion of the Positive Approach to Behaviour Support Core Standard.
- Current driver's license, enabling you to travel between sites and participate in community-based activities.
