Leadership Role

This is a key leadership opportunity for a passionate and experienced educator to head our Languages Department at Carey Baptist College.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of language teachers and promoting excellence in the teaching and learning of languages across the school.
  • They will play a key role in curriculum development, department management, and staff mentorship, ensuring that students have access to high-quality language education that aligns with our Christ-centered mission.

About the Opportunity:

  • This position involves a 0.2 FTE load as Head of Department (HOD) and a 0.8 FTE teaching load, offering the perfect balance between leadership and hands-on teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support staff to help them develop into excellent teachers and future leaders.
  • Lead by implementing best practices in curriculum development and effective teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with staff, pastoral leaders, and students to optimize learning and achieve holistic outcomes for students.
  • Effectively manage people, resources, and time to meet organisational goals.
  • Create and execute annual curriculum plans, analyse results, and address strategic goals for continuous improvement.
  • Be an inspirational communicator, engaging and motivating those around you.
  • Be a committed Christian who understands and demonstrates servant-hearted leadership; you are intentional in nurturing and empowering your staff and in creating an environment where others flourish.
