Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced ecologist to join our dynamic team in Queensland, Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert ecological advice on a wide range of infrastructure and natural resource management projects.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled ecologist to contribute to a diverse portfolio of natural resource management and infrastructure projects. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated environmental and ecology work packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert ecological advice and guidance to project teams on infrastructure and natural resource management projects.
  • Conduct desktop and field-based ecological surveys and impact assessments to identify potential environmental risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, environmental analyses, and mapping outputs to inform project decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success and deliverables.
  • Support and mentor graduate and undergraduate team members to develop their skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • A degree in Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong identification skills in Queensland flora, fauna, and ecological communities.
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in consulting, construction, or regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with Queensland Regional Ecosystem and Biocondition frameworks (or working towards).
  • GIS and field mapping tool experience; proficiency in MS Office.
  • Solid understanding of environmental legislation and approvals processes at all levels of government.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
