Job Description

A senior taxation role is available at a leading investment bank, based in Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional to lead the group's tax function in Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day compliance and tax reporting obligations of the group in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Provide taxation advice to business lines and functions operating in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Manage relevant action undertaken by revenue authorities, including risk reviews, private ruling applications, and tax audits.
  • Implement ongoing tax reform initiatives in Australian and New Zealand.
  • Manage risk associated with taxation obligations of the group in Australia and New Zealand.
Key Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Post-graduate qualifications in taxation law (Master of Taxation or International Taxation).
  • Minimum 10 years tax experience in chartered accounting/law firm and commerce, including 5 years in the banking industry.
  • Strong knowledge across all areas of Australian and New Zealand tax, including income tax, international tax, financial services, GST, FBT, consolidations, transfer pricing, and state and territory taxes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of taxation regimes across the Asia Pacific region and Europe.
  • Experience and knowledge of OECD tax principles, especially permanent establishments and transfer pricing.
  • Communication skills to translate professional tax information to non-tax expert stakeholders.
