About the Role

UGL's New Energy national business unit is experiencing rapid growth, and we need skilled professionals to join our team. Our in-house engineering and design capability, combined with strong project delivery and operations and maintenance expertise positions us well in the market.

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Design Engineer - Solar to lead the conceptual and detailed engineering of solar projects. This role involves developing specifications and collaborating with management to address any engineering concerns that may arise.

  • Planning and conducting professional engineering work without direct supervision.
  • Consult, recommend, and advise on specialist engineering areas.
  • Supervising and coordinating multi-disciplined design activities.
  • Managing technical interfaces between disciplines, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Assisting in preparing project forecasts and constructability.
  • Overseeing commissioning activities with site teams.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in solar PV engineering, specifically in utility-scale solar projects up to 100MW.
  • Proficiency in PVSyst, Cymcap, PVCase, and RatedPower PV Design.
  • Strong analytical thinking, effective problem-solving, and clear communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a strategic focus.
  • Flexibility to travel for site-based work as needed.
