Trainee Delegate Role

The Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Trainee Delegate to undertake claims investigations and determinations under various legislation.

The successful candidate will provide advice and interpretation on aspects of legislation to colleagues, senior managers, and clients. They will also liaise with DVA staff, clients, and outside organisations to reach timely and correct determinations on claims.

Duties
  • Conduct thorough investigations and make determinations on claims under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA), the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA) and/or the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA).
  • Offer expert advice and interpretation on aspects of legislation in written format to colleagues, senior managers, and clients.
  • Collaborate with DVA staff, clients, and external organisations to achieve timely and accurate determinations on claims.
  • Pursue tasks and projects to enhance the quality and consistency of service delivery to clients and operational efficiency.
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be Australian citizens to be eligible for this role.

Additional Notes

This position will be offered on a non-ongoing basis for an initial period of 18 months, with the possibility of extension. A merit pool may be established to fill similar positions within the next 18 months.
