Job Description:

The Mechanical and Piping Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and delivery of mechanical and piping systems for tailings infrastructure in a large-scale mining project.

This role ensures compliance with project and regulatory standards, reviews and approves engineering deliverables, supports contract scope development, and monitors progress, cost, and change control.

Furthermore, this position facilitates communication between stakeholders and suppliers, promotes safety and technical excellence, and oversees audits and hazard reviews.

  • Ensure all mechanical and piping systems are designed and implemented in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, including plans and specifications, to ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Support the development of contract scope and conduct technical evaluations to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitor progress, cost, and change control, and report any issues or concerns to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Management: Ensure that all mechanical and piping systems are designed and implemented in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  2. Engineering Deliverables: Review and approve engineering deliverables, including plans and specifications, to ensure they meet project requirements.
  3. Contract Scope Development: Support the development of contract scope and conduct technical evaluations to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  4. Progress Monitoring: Monitor progress, cost, and change control, and report any issues or concerns to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Education: Engineering degree in Mechanical or related discipline.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in piping and mechanical systems, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of design standards, HSE regulations, and project execution; proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and complex engineering packages; excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
