We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Oncology Specialist to join our team at Icon Cancer Centre Australia.

About the Role

This is a full-time 12-month maximum term contract opportunity commencing February 2025. As a Principal House Officer in Radiation Oncology, you will be integral to our junior medical team, working across Icon Cancer Centre and Cairns Hospital. Your primary focus will be delivering high-quality patient care under the guidance of senior Radiation Oncologists, and reporting to the Director of Training.

This role offers extensive hands-on experience, professional development opportunities, and is ideal for a doctor passionate about oncology.

Main Responsibilities
  • Participate with consultants and other members of the treatment team in all ways possible to deliver optimal patient care.
  • Keep accurate documentation of patient examination history.
  • Participate in the simulation process and develop knowledge of the treatment positions and techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with the planning team to gain experience in critically evaluating treatment plans.
  • Manage Radiation Oncology inpatients in consultation with clinical supervisors and liaise with multidisciplinary team members for issues relating to day-to-day patient care.
  • Assess and treat the side effects of radiation treatment on patients.
  • Effectively communicate with relatives, nursing, allied health and radiation therapy team members.
